Prof.Dr. Wu Dong, doctoral supervisor, a post-doctoral supervisor. He  studied in Japan Sports University. He is also a national referee, and a training object of the "Hundred Talents Program" of the General Administration of Sports of China. He won many prizes including BSU Teaching Fundamental Skills Competition Champion, Best Teaching Demonstration Award, Science and Technology Newcomer Award, Second Prize of Beijing Basic Teaching Skills Group , Beijing University "Quality Undergraduate Courses", "Quality Undergraduate Teaching Materials and Courseware",  the second prize of Beijing Municipal Teaching Achievement, the first prize of national and international martial arts papers, and many other honors.

He comes from Shanxi Province, China. He started martial arts with his family at the age of 6 and has been in thie field around 50 years. He was admitted to the Wushu Department of BSU in 1988 and became teacher after graduation in 1992.

He successively studied Taijiquan, Xingyiquan, Baguaquan, Fanziquan, Piguaquan, Tongbeiquan, Poke foot and Bajiquan under the tutelage of many famous teachers such as Zhang Wenguang, Sun Jianyun, Zhang Kejian and Li Jinbo.

He takes morning exercises with students everyday. He believes that morning exercises can cultivate students' volition and character and has kept it for 30 years. He left his figure and footprints on the "Peach Blossom Island" in front of the dormitory of the school's national team training base before the general secretary replied to the stone. "After training in morning exercises, the students have a heartfelt love for martial arts, including the traditional national sports spirit. There are 5 non-martial arts students who have won the top 8 in the national official competitions.

The phrase "good knowledge and good ability" comes from Mencius. Mencius said in his book, "Those who are able without learning are also able; those who know without thinking are also able to know." Good knowledge and good ability is the moral judgment of man to instinctively know good from evil and to distinguish right from wrong. The reason why Prof. Wu Dong remembers "good knowledge and good ability" so well is that he believes that the reason why a good teacher can teach and solve problems is that, in addition to being rich in knowledge and being able to follow good advice, it is more important to have "virtue" in his heart. This "virtue" is the teacher's virtue, only to be able to educate people with teacher's virtue, only to be called "high learning as a teacher, the body is right as a model".

In Prof. Wu Dong's opinion, the difficult part of teaching is not passing on words, but teaching by example. He often thinks: how to achieve the unity of knowledge and action and the consistency of words and actions. He pointed out that "knowledge is the basis and premise, action is the focus and key, we must promote action by knowledge, promote knowledge by action, to achieve the unity of knowledge and action. " It can be seen that in the teaching process to effectively achieve the "unity of knowledge and action" is the key to implement the fundamental task of establishing moral education. Professor Wu Dong said frankly: "The class is to preach by words, but more importantly, I am teaching by example, impressing people with real feelings, real teaching and real practice."

What is teaching by example?

"When I work hard in class, the students dare not not work hard. My practice shoes often wear out the bottom, and sweat spreads all over the floor during the class." Professor Wu Dong laughs: "So my class is a 'golden class' forged by sweat.

He was intived to teach at many countries, striving to promote Chinese culture and tell Chinese stories well. He teaches hundreds of students every year. Among these foreign students, the oldest is 84 years old and the youngest is only 6 years old.

Compared to be called as professor, he prefers teacher: He often says"As an ordinary martial arts teacher, I have a small dream, but also a big wish: I hope that in the future our Tai Chi classes can become an international Tai Chi. In the boxing course.Everyone works together to truly push Tai Chi to the world and let the people of the world enjoy the happiness and health that Tai Chi brings to them."
